Terms of use
Last updated: May 11, 2026
By using StitchFont, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English on purpose.
What StitchFont is
StitchFont is a free utility for converting commercial embroidery font packs (zips of .DST, .PES, .EXP, .JEF, .VP3, .HUS, or .XXX files) into folders compatible with Ink/Stitch, a free, open-source extension for the Inkscape SVG editor. The whole tool runs in your browser. There's no account, no upload, no server.
Your responsibility for source files
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any embroidery font pack you upload to StitchFont. Most commercial packs are licensed for personal use only — converting them into a different format doesn't extend or transfer that license. StitchFont neither hosts nor distributes any embroidery fonts: every byte of source material comes from your machine.
No warranty
StitchFont is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that the converted fonts will be free of defects, suitable for your particular embroidery machine, or compatible with future versions of Ink/Stitch.
Stitched output is on you
We're not responsible for any embroidery you produce using fonts converted with StitchFont — including, but not limited to, broken needles, thread breaks, hoop misalignment, off-tension stitching, or unhappy gift recipients. Run a test stitchout before committing to a real piece.
Bundled open-source components
StitchFont's source code is closed. The open-source components it depends on at runtime — Pyodide, lxml, Click, pyembroidery, and cli-anything-inkstitch — keep their own licenses. The Apache 2.0 license for cli-anything-inkstitch is included inside every font folder StitchFont produces.
Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
